I’ve been exploring the landscape with acrylic paint for the past two weeks. Another rabbit hole! Not the easiest medium or subject for me but the struggle led me to think about how I want to respond to the landscape.
The call to paint the landscape right now is the colour of Autumn. I have been working in black and white pen and ink all year so colour is a glorious, splendiferous change.
Plus, I don’t want to have to wear my specs while I paint. My eyes need a rest, having definitely deteriorated with ten months worth of detailed fine line work.
This painting ‘Through the Looking Glass’ is step closer to finding a way to explore the landscape with paint. The landscape for me is about colour! A simple revelation but exciting nonetheless. Sometimes it amazes me how slow I can be before the penny to drops!

If you are local, I’m organising the first exhibition at Loanhead Farm, a new but historic and very beautiful Community Farm, Near Tarbrax, just off the Lang Wang, next weekend. It would be great to see you! Details in image above.
Lots of talent on show – silversmithing, furniture, painting, sculpture, textiles and much more. Dog walks and a gorgeous tearoom. Loanhead Community Farm is new multi purpose destination in rural South Lanarkshire.
Look forward to seeing you,
Love Kirsten
