Last Sunday evening, a message saying someone had stolen my drawing of If Wishes Were Horses and was claiming it was by them. I asked for help on my FB page and was stunned by both the amount and ferocity of support. It was a heartwarming reminder of all the wonderful souls and truth tellers out there. You are my people!
As the week progressed spring started to spring. This weekend has been wonderful. What a difference a few degrees make. The birds are busy creating nests and as the temperature increased I started choosing warmer colours in my wild bird series of paintings.

And now it is 5.30 am on Monday morning. I still don’t feel as though I have made the art I want to make for this upcoming exhibition. As well as expressing love for wildlife I also want to let the wild child in me be free to play. It sounds easy, but it’s harder than it sounds. All that conditioning that we receive at school and from society is a block. I want to make paintings where I let force of nature travel through me. And yes, I know that sounds pretentious, but it is the world’s best feeling when we get out of our heads, out of our own way and into the moment to just express the joy of being alive on paper or canvas.
I think that’s why Cy Twombly’s work is so incredibly expensive. It has that feel. His paintings express freedom and who doesn’t want to be free?
Everything to play for, as they say!
Much love and hope to see you in May in Edinburgh if you can make it!
