What is success for an artist?
Is it selling, making a living, exhibiting in great galleries, being represented, being part of juried shows, having fabulous techniques, being on trend with the market place or these days selling an online art course that will help others be better artists just like you?
In my view, it’s none of these.
A succesful artist is one who simply shows up to work day after day, year after year and paints.
Anyone can put paint on canvas in some form or other but to do it consistently for decades must I think define a successful artist. For them, its not a hobby or pastime, career or business plan, it is simply what they do!
Painters paint!
It’s great to see so many of my art school friends decades later still painting and making beautiful work!
