I want to empty my studio!
The idea is to turn it into an artists retreat.
A couple of artists friends have asked me if there is a chance that they could come and paint in my studio. Currently, the answer is ‘no’ as it’s full of my work, but the idea is good. I’d like to be able to help and inspire other artists and it is a wonderful space to work in. I’d like to create a gorgeous artists retreat.
So I am having a sale!
Apart from the two exhibitions this year I haven’t been making much of an effort to sell online or via my website. I’ve had a bit of a mental block. I think Ai has had something to do with that. I can’t even explain why, apart from that I find it creepy.
I avoided using it until the other day when I typed my name in and within seconds I was profiled. A description of me as an artist appeared. Creepy. Weird. I am probably wrong to feel this way but my reaction to advanced technology is to want to get more involved with the real world, nature, animals, people…
I dunno about Ai!
Anyway, back to the studio plan.
Some years ago for a couple of years I had it set up as a rental cottage. Firstly, as a weekly let and then more long term. However I found it diffiuclt to do all the cleaining for the letting and paint, so I stopped letting it out. Now you can’t even get into the space for the mountain of paintings. I work in the small adjacent conservatory.
I visualise keeping the conservatory as a work space but turning the room into a tiny house again for artsits to rent, and they can use the conservatory studio to paint. The building is a converted garage.
I feel quite excited by the prospect.
Meantime, if you want to come and visit or bring your friends to see my work, now is a great time to grab yourself a bargain. I will be sharing paintings and drawings for sale over the coming weeks. The good thing about buying directly from an artist is that you are not having to pay up to 50 percent gallery commission. There will be some great bargains, so keep an eye on this page and my facebook page, Kirsten Harris Art.
Wish me luck as I try to pull off this endeavour to hopefully have an artists retreat set up for spring!
Much love
Kirsten

Spring Tide by Kirsten Harris, Oil and Sand on Canvas, Framed size 33 x 27 cms
£85 Plus postage at cost
This is the same painting photographed under natural light and artificail light. The colours are better in reality than either photo show. It is a very textural painting in a lovely black frame with a silver slip.
I love painting small seascapes, I see them as ‘windows’ to a bigger world.
Available.
