Three of my favourite paintings that sold at ‘Wild’ had dandelion clocks embedded in them. Whilst the exhibition was on in Edinburgh the dandelions in my garden went to seed. Every evening I gathered a few dandelion clocks. After the exhibition I started a series of experimental dandelion clocks paintings. Wish paintings.
I’m finding it tricky working with their delicate texture but love the process. I am not sure if these paintings are succesful or not, but that’s not really the point so I guess it doesn’t matter.
Art is a discovery, a journey and a search for meaning and I am loving this journey and finding new meaning that I want to explore in my work over the next couple of months. These wish paintings are giving me ideas.
I remind myself that they are experiments.
The title of our upcoming exhbition ‘Rewilding’ has been part of the inspiration.
Embedded dandelion clocks can look like bananas in cross section and um, a bit like the the male member too! I guess that’s because they are all seed makers!
Seeds are becoming trees and in turn the human form. Ideas are emerging.
I thought I would pluck up courage this morning and share some of the work in progress which hopefully I can resolve and will become part of the our next exhibition in Edinburgh in August.
Details of the exhibition with Brenda Raspin are below. It would be great to see you if you can make it.
Love Kirsten
