In exactly a year’s time Brenda Raspin and I will be exbihiting at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival. The working title for our exhibition is RELIC. I am delighted to have it to look forward to and to exhibit with Brenda again.
Today, I’ve been painting after a week in bed with Covid. URGH!
I am still very tired, but so delighted to be feeling well enough to sit quietly and paint. A week in bed has given me time to contemplate. I kept thinking that although I felt horrible and mentally cloudy about a few things, my brain akin to muddy water, the enforced rest and quiet would allow the mud to clear to find some clarity to get my art flowing again.
In truth, it was less contemplation and more sleeping and listening to a fantastic detective series on Spotify ‘The Charles Paris Mysteries’ by Simon Brett. Sharp, witty and brilliantly acted, set in the world of actors, the stories were perfect escapism. Sometimes not thinking is a good thing too!
Today whilst painting, the idea came to try and keep a bit of a blog diary as I work towards the exhibition over the next year.
Does anyone even read blogs anymore? I don’t know!
Promoting art seems to be all about the reel, the moving image, which is ironic as painting is all about quiet contemplation! Who knows I may get my act together and make a reel. But for now a blog. Old school!
Apart from making some hopefully decent art over the next year, the task in hand is to sell enough to keep going. I have felt derailed over the past 2/3 months after by being plagiarised by Ai ! However, I can’t stay derailed, so hopefully blogging will be positive and help me get going again.
I will reinstate my art sale too. I need to make space for new work and stopped the sale on day 66, a rabbit caught in the headlights of plagiarism. It was meant to be a 100 day sale. So time to get back to it. Do keep a look out. I will share sale pieces via my blog and then Facebook later in the day. I’ll start tomorrow!
