Duck Off! Acrylic on Canvas, 80 x 80cm
Over the past few years a pond’s appeared in the field behind my house. It’s expanding rapidly this autumn which is great for the wildlife but not good for the ancient beech trees on the far side of the field whose roots now stand in water. The water is killing the trees.
I’ve tried to do the right thing and talk to the two households whose land the blocked stream is on, as neither can see what is happening. It’s a simple fix – rent a small digger for half a day, problem sorted!
I’ve been told the title of this blog!
Ouch! And wow! I’m amazed at the complete and utter indifference!
I’m worrying about the fate of the trees but enjoying the pond life too. It’s a good autumn for ducks, lots of rain!
The yin yang of nature. One habitat created, another destroyed!
I’ll aim to get my saplings planted this weekend too, it will make me feel better.
Much love Kirsten x
