‘When I grow up I want to be a landscape painter!’ It’s a thought!
Landscape painting always feels so grown up to me and I am rubbish at it.
Being a ‘finisher/completer’ type, as a customer-turned-wonderful-friend once told me, I’ve spent this week continuing to wrangle with my terrible landscape painting.
Whilst going through a series of emotional dramas played out in paint, it struck me that us humans are a moody lot! Figuring out who we are, what we think, how we respond and what turns us on or off with paint on a canvas is an unbelievably healthy thing to do!. So much better than taking life’s frustrations out on the people who love you or the stranger on the street. No wonder there are wars!
Author Wayne Dyer, now known to another friend and I as ‘The Wayngel’ since his untimely death said –
‘Most people most of the time are looking for reasons to be offended!’
Once you know that, you realise that not only is it true but our job is to not be one of those people – to not be at war with life! It’s far better to be offended by one’s own creative efforts than the opinions and actions of others and let offensive offended thoughts fester in ones mind. We have choices.
Letting go of ‘being offended’ gives us freedom!
Not being offended in the first place IS freedom!
Wishing you a great creative weekend.
